Protecting your shed

John Davies dressed as a guard sat in front of a shed

How much are the contents of your shed worth?

Many thieves wonder the same thing. Is your shed secured? Make sure it is - Before its too late.

WHAT CAN I DO?

- Put all tools and equipment away and lock up.

- Store expensive items in a more secure place

- Secure items to strong anchoring points with chains

- Replace standard hinges with strap hinges secured by golf bolts

- On existing hinges, use coach bolts or security bolts or screws

- A touch bar pad (Also known as a 'hasp' and 'staple' fitted with good quality 'close shackle' padlock is the most effective way of securing a door.

- Invest in a good quality lock

- Don't compromise on security - you get what you pay for.

WINDOWS

Fit security grilles or even apply frosted window film to stop thieves looking in at the contents of your shed.

ALARMS

Fit an alarm, these cost less than you think and are available at DIY stores.

GARAGES

Don't forget your garage. Never leave your garage unlocked. For extra security a padlock with a hasp and staple fitted on each side of the door is very effective. If your garage is connected to a main building ensure that the internal doors are secure.

We want everyone who lives or works in the County Borough to play their part in achieving our vision.
