What is bullying?

  • Someone calling you names
  • Someone hitting, pushing or kicking you
  • People saying they are going to hurt you
  • Having your things taken from you
  • Being sent nasty text messages
  • Being made to do things you don?t want to
  • Being ignored or left out

So, who gets bullied?

Anyone can get bullied

Where does it happen?

Bullying can happen anywhere. It can take place both in and out of school.

For example it can happen:

  • On your way to and from school
  • In the school playground
  • In the corridor,
  • In the classroom
  • In the dining hall,
  • In the toilets,
  • In the street

How does it make you feel?

Miserable, upset, lonely, tearful, frightened, worried, unhappy or angry

  • It might make you feel that you don't want to go out or go to school.
  • It might make it hard to concentrate on your school work.

What should I do if I am being bullied?

Don't stay silent!! Tell someone...

  • Tell your teacher
  • Tell your parents
  • Tell a friend
  • Sharing a problem is the first step to sorting it out.
  • There are people who will listen and can help you.

Don't blame yourself

Do you think you have ever bullied someone?

Have you ever done any of these things lots of times

  • Teased someone
  • Picked on them
  • Hurt them by things you have said to them
  • Hurt them by things you have done to them
  • Taken things from them
  • Left them out

How do you think it made them feel?

Remember bullying can make people feel miserable, upset, lonely, frightened and angry.

How can you help other people who are being bullied?

You should tell someone because the person being bullied might be too frightened to get help.

These people can help:

Parents, Classroom helpers, Teachers, Dinner ladies, Friends, School Secretary
