Supporting customer friendly services and initiatives

Shopmobility scheme

Due to the outstanding success of the Shopmobility scheme since its launch two years ago, the service - which seeks to make the town centre more accessible to older residents and people with disabilities - has expanded.

It is now available between 9am - 5pm six days a week and is closed only on Sundays.

Bridgend Town Centre Street Cleansing

Other initiatives include: new street furniture (benches, finger posts, signage): comprehensive CCTV coverage of the Town Centre; installation of Wi-Fi facilities and a dedicated street cleansing reaction force which is funded in partnership with Bridgend Town Council. Hanging basket floral displays add colour to the Town Centre with the baskets being planted and maintained in association with a variety of local community organisations. Each of the initiatives ensures that Bridgend Town Centre is a safe, clean, accessible and pleasant environment to visit, shop or invest.

Bridgend County Borough’s Community Cohesion Strategy for 2011 - 2014

This is Bridgend County Borough’s Community Cohesion Strategy for 2011 - 2014. It sets out our long-term strategic vision for integrated, inclusive and cohesive communities and includes an Action Plan that provides the framework for future activities in this area. The Strategy has been developed by Safer Bridgend in partnership with other public, private and voluntary sector bodies represented on the Local Service Board and with involvement of the wider community. We want everyone who lives or works in the County Borough to play their part in achieving our vision.
