Riverside Walkway

The River Ogmore forms an important historic reference to the origins of Bridgend and its subsequent growth and development as a key settlement within South Wales.

In a project to reconnect the river to the life of the Town Centre, and to create new riverside development opportunities, £2.5 million of funding has been secured from the Objective One and Welsh Assembly Government match-funding programmes to construct a riverside walkway within the Town Centre. Works commenced in March 2007 to create the walkway which will stretch from Old Bridge to Water Street within the Dunraven Place and Queen Street area of the Town Centre. A new footbridge will cross the river from the walkway to Angel Street as the commercial and civic functions of Bridgend Town Centre are brought closer together.

Bridgend County Borough’s Community Cohesion Strategy for 2011 - 2014

This is Bridgend County Borough’s Community Cohesion Strategy for 2011 - 2014. It sets out our long-term strategic vision for integrated, inclusive and cohesive communities and includes an Action Plan that provides the framework for future activities in this area. The Strategy has been developed by Safer Bridgend in partnership with other public, private and voluntary sector bodies represented on the Local Service Board and with involvement of the wider community. We want everyone who lives or works in the County Borough to play their part in achieving our vision.
