Enhancing the town environment

Over £10 million has been invested in Bridgend Town Centre which has resulted in major improvements to the Town Centre environment including:

Building Improvement and Restoration

In May 2005, the Authority designated a Townscape Heritage Initiative in the historic core of the Town Centre around Dunraven Place with funding of £910,000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund. In addition, the Council administers a successful Town Improvement Grant programme across the whole Town Centre which has seen an investment of more than £750,000 since 2000


Town Centre Streetscene

An investment programme of £6 million sourced from the Council, former Welsh Development Agency, Welsh Assembly Government and Objective One has successfully implemented streetscene enhancements and traffic management measures to pedestrianise the primary shopping streets during the last eight years with further works underway in the Town Centre. These include Dunraven Place, Adare Street, Caroline Street, Wyndham Street, Queen Street, Market Street, Nolton Street, Brackla Street.

Bridgend County Borough’s Community Cohesion Strategy for 2011 - 2014

This is Bridgend County Borough’s Community Cohesion Strategy for 2011 - 2014. It sets out our long-term strategic vision for integrated, inclusive and cohesive communities and includes an Action Plan that provides the framework for future activities in this area. The Strategy has been developed by Safer Bridgend in partnership with other public, private and voluntary sector bodies represented on the Local Service Board and with involvement of the wider community. We want everyone who lives or works in the County Borough to play their part in achieving our vision.

Your car may be at risk if you don't hide your keys

There has been a recent spate of dwelling burglaries in the borough where burglars are breaking into houses, taking the car keys and stealing the car and other posessions.

Home Fire Safety Checks

South Wales Fire and Rescue Services carries out approximately 6000 Home Fire Safety Checks and fit approximately 12000 smoke alarms in homes throughout the area each year.
