Attracting a diverse range of quality development

A series of new independent and national retailers have opened outlets within Bridgend Town Centre. Other retailers and developers are progressing proposals including a new ASDA store within the Town Centre which is scheduled to open in 2008 and a revamp of the Brackla Street Shopping Centre.

Together these offer Bridgend Town Centre a welcome retail boost and demonstrate the confidence investors and retailers are showing in the Town Centre. Other commercial projects completed recently include office developments at Brewery Lane, the former chest clinic on Court Road and Nos. 5-7 Court Road which together have added 40,000 sq ft of office space to the Town Centre. Other projects are in the pipeline.

The regeneration issues associated with the development of key sites within Bridgend Town Centre relate to the contribution to ensuring that Bridgend Town Centre achieves an economically viable mass as a significant sub-regional retail and commercial centre within South Wales. This will be achieved by creating high quality Town Centre attractions which become a first choice destination for shoppers, investors, visitors and tourists and which provide safe, secure, attractive and vibrant economic environments that increases market confidence and encourages new and existing business development and investment.
